Sustainability
RENEWABLE ENERGY
In March 2023, we announced that 100% of the energy used by the company will come from renewable sources. Previously, 25% of the energy used in the factory was solar.
This initiative coincides with the expansion of our industrial park, which will receive an investment of R$ 25 million in 2024. The factory will have a new unit dedicated exclusively to the production of biological inputs, doubling its production capacity. The investment follows the movement in the agribusiness market, which increasingly seeks sustainable technologies for crops, with Brazil leading in the use of bio-inputs.
In Ponta Grossa, Paraná, Agrocete has a facility that houses the Effluent Treatment Plant, where approximately 350 thousand liters of liquid waste are treated each month. The volume is quite significant considering the potential for reuse of this waste. The waste treatment center has existed since 2014 and was expanded in 2020. The goal of our environmental team is to make 100% of the treated volume viable for the entire production line.
And, in 2023, the performance of this facility was awarded as the best work in the thematic area of Environmental Engineering and Clean Technologies at the III National Web Meeting of Chemical Engineering.
Sustainable Development Goals
Through existing practices, Agrocete is recognized for meeting seven Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) established by the United Nations (UN). These include health and well-being, industry, innovation and infrastructure, clean water and sanitation, decent work and economic growth, sustainable cities and communities, and action against global climate change and life below water.
These achievements reinforce our commitment to the sustainability of Agribusiness and the importance of generating a positive impact on the community in which we are embedded.
TFS is a sector initiative created by companies in the chemical industry, aiming to assess, through audits, sustainability practices in their supply chains. The audit was a success, with 97% of the required criteria met. The goal of TFS is to promote a safe and ethical industry, dedicated to protecting the global climate, following the principles of the United Nations Global Compact and Responsible Care®.
Through evidence, the performance of Management, Environment, Health & Safety, Labor & Human Rights, and Governance of its suppliers is measured, thereby raising CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) standards across the chemical industry. Companies with this certification are committed to making sustainability improvements in their own operations and those of their suppliers.
AMONG THE BEST COMPANIES TO WORK FOR!
In October 2023, we received the Great Place to Work (GPTW) certification. This organization is globally recognized for evaluating and certifying the best workplaces in 97 countries.
For Agrocete, having this certification is synonymous with a genuine commitment to the well-being and health of its employees. By promoting a positive and engaging work environment, the company directly impacts the physical and mental health of its employees, contributing to the reduction of occupational diseases, turnover rates, and increased productivity.
Additionally, besides the certification, GPTW also offers detailed assessments that identify strengths and areas for improvement in people management. Therefore, we can confidently say that having GPTW recognition contributes to the company's employer branding, i.e., how employees feel about the company and how external professionals perceive it.
Thus, we reaffirm our commitment to building a healthy environment and promoting the professional growth of all employees.
