Agrocete announces new R$ 11 million investment in Ponta Grossa (PR) plant
Agrocete, a Brazilian multinational and a reference in plant physiology, application technology, and bio-inputs, has announced a new strategic cycle focused on innovation, sustainability, and expanding its portfolio of biocontrol products. The highlight is the R$ 11 million investment in building a new facility for the production of biological inputs, already under development at the company’s headquarters in Ponta Grossa (PR).
The initiative marks the company’s 45th anniversary in agribusiness and reflects the growing demand for sustainable solutions in the field. “We are building the future of Agrocete based on three key pillars: technology, sustainability, and people. The new facility is a clear reflection of this vision,” says Andrea de Figueiredo Giroldo, Agrocete’s Marketing and Technical Development Director.
Investment in innovation and new products by 2027
The company also announced it will allocate 5% of its annual revenue to Research and Development (R&D), focusing on advancing biological technologies for pest and disease control, plant growth promotion, biological nitrogen fixation, and nutrient solubilization.
By 2027, the company expects to launch eight new biological products, developed internally or in partnership with biotechnology firms. The announcements were made during the 2025 Strategic Alignment Week, held in April, which brought together 110 employees from Brazil and other countries where Agrocete operates, including Uruguay, Paraguay, the Dominican Republic, and the United States.
Brazil moves forward in global leadership of biologicals
Agrocete’s move aligns with the rapid expansion of the bio-inputs sector in Brazil. According to ANPII Bio (National Association for the Promotion and Innovation of the Biological Industry), the Brazilian market reached R$ 5.7 billion in the last growing season, with over 156 million hectares treated with biological products. The sector is expected to grow 60% by the end of the decade, surpassing R$ 9 billion in sales.
Today, Brazil accounts for 11.3% of global bio-input consumption, with projections to reach 16.4% by 2030 — which should establish the country as a global leader in the adoption of sustainable technologies in agribusiness.
Sustainability integrated into the business
Sustainability is already a core part of Agrocete’s strategy. In 2024, sustainable products — including biological solutions and formulations with organic raw materials — represented 76% of the company’s revenue in Brazil.
The company has also made progress in environmental practices. Its Ponta Grossa facility now operates with 100% renewable energy, certified by Smart Energia, which is expected to reduce CO₂ emissions by 82 tons per year. The plant also has its own Effluent Treatment Station and ongoing initiatives for conserving natural resources. “Sustainability is not an isolated goal for us, but a growth guideline. We aim to turn innovation into positive impact for farmers, society, and the planet,” Giroldo emphasizes.
